Main Stage (Town Hall)
Welshpool Town Hall dominates the townscape of the border town of Welshpool and is arguably the most prominent building in the town. The impressive clock tower houses the Town Clock which is still hand wound to this day. The Town Hall was built around 1804 after its predecessor was considered too small and demolished. It has a stone faced facade with an impressive entrance leading to a first floor that houses the old courtroom, council chamber and assembly room.
This building was completed in 1804 and was later enlarged in 1836. But even the enlarged building was thought to be too small, so it was replaced by the present Town Hall in 1873.
And so it stayed for 200 years in relative silence until 2009 when it's walls were shaken with the very first Welshpool Music Festival. Now into our second year just take a look at this impressive lineup!
