A Talent Competition was held on last Saturday (15th May) in the Corn Exchange at Welshpool Town Hall, to find new talent in the area, with the winners being given the opportunity to perform at the Welshpool Music Festival over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. There were entrants in all categories ie. Singer U12s, 12-18years and Adult; Dance U12s, 12-18 and Adult and Variety.

WELSHPOOL, A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC FESTIVAL
A Talent Competition was held on last Saturday (15th May) in the Corn Exchange at Welshpool Town Hall, to find new talent in the area, with the winners being given the opportunity to perform at the Welshpool Music Festival over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. There were entrants in all categories ie. Singer U12s, 12-18years and Adult; Dance U12s, 12-18 and Adult and Variety.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Estelle Bleivas, who was there said "I was astonished by the wealth of talent here in Welshpool, and all participants were bright and brave, very entertaining and you could see that they put their heart and souls into their act, very well done to everyone"
The winners of the categories are as follows, and will be awarded their certificates at the Music Festival by Festival co-ordinator Kuldip Wesson-Caberwal:
DANCE ACTS
- Under 12s – Chloe Regan
- 12-18yrs – Chris Gittings
- Adult – Sol Batoctoy
SINGERS
- Under 12s – Rebe Melia with her version of The Deadwood Stage
- 12-18yrs – Huw Saunders & Will Butler (Duo) on guitar and keyboard, performing their own composition
- Adult – Donna Davies
VARIETY ACT
Under 12s – Ellie Jones, Harpist Well done to all the above and you will be able to see them perform either on Saturday 29th or Monday 31st May at the Town Hall.
Saturday there are two stages of acts lined up from midday, in both Corn Exchange and the Assembly Room.
Monday acts will be performing in the Corn Exchange from noon, with the Festivals climax on the main stage in the Assembly Room from 9pm – being Dave Evans (co-founder of rock band ACDC for more details see www.daveevansrocks.com) and support act Falling Red due on stage at 8pm.
